Chelsea Rally from Three Goals Down to Capture W7F Championship

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM (MAY 30, 2026) – It had to be Chelsea. And it had to be Aggie Beever-Jones.

The Blues firebrand delivered the game-winner with just 23 seconds left in the match, dribbling the ball into the Manchester United penalty box and pounding home her third goal of the contest – and eighth of the tournament – to hand Chelsea the W7F title with a 6-5 victory over the Red Devils.

Manchester United looked like they might be in control down the stretch, taking a 5-4 lead into the 28th minute. But Beever-Jones would not let her side go down that easily. She scored on a header to tie the match at 5-5 – putting her on a hat trick and setting up her historic clincher.

The Red Devils finished as W7F runners-up for the second time after falling to Bayern Munich in the inaugural tournament.

The championship match featured perhaps the most entertaining player walkouts of the tournament. Manchester United manager Marc Skinner stole the show, dancing out to “Tití Me Preguntó” dressed as Bad Bunny – bathrobe and all. The Blues, though, were not to be outdone, striking a picture-perfect group pose.

All that was left, then, was to drop the ball in front of a raucous sellout crowd, with supporters standing and cheering all the way to the opening whistle.

Chelsea keeper Hannah Hampton made a goal-saving play to start things off in the fourth minute, denying Lea Schüller on what seemed to be an easy tap-in after Elisabeth Terland delivered a perfect cross on the break. But just over a minute later, Jess Park delivered the opening blow for the Red Devils, picking up a rebound off of Terland’s initial shot and burying it in the bottom-left corner.

The Blues did not remain down for long, though. Sjoeke Nüsken carried the ball all the way from the center line to the six-yard box before ripping an angled stunner at the right post, equalizing for Chelsea in the seventh minute.

The back-and-forth battle was just getting started.

Park tallied her second in the ninth minute on a rocket from the right edge of the penalty box, receiving a layoff from Terland before pounding the ball past Hampton. And moments later, Park’s run through the Blues penalty box drew multiple defenders, allowing Schüller to set up Sandberg for a header at the right post.

Manchester United were not done. Melvine Malard continued her torrid tournament run with a right-footed blast between Hampton’s legs to push the Red Devils ahead, 4-1, in the 11th minute.

Keira Walsh got one back for Chelsea in the 12th minute, taking a back-heeled pass from Wieke Kaptein and slotting the ball into the bottom-right corner. And then Kaptein set up Beever-Jones for her first goal of the afternoon, cutting Manchester United’s lead to 4-3.

Ellie Carpenter found the equalizer for Chelsea in the 14th minute. She tapped in a cross from Nüsken and sent her teammates – and the Blues faithful – into a frenzy.

The sides entered the break tied at 4-4, but it wasn’t long before the Red Devils retook the lead. Schüller scored from the top of the six-yard box on a right-footed pass from Park in the opening minute of the second half.

Both sides clamped down on defense for the next 10 minutes, denying several goal-scoring opportunities. But Manchester United’s 5-4 lead would eventually wither under the relentless pressure of Beever-Jones.
