Goals Keep Flowing for Manchester United in Second Semi Final
The Red Devils’ 5-2 win over Everton locked up their spot in The W7F Final.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM (MAY 30, 2026) – Manchester United continued to show off their class in the second semi final of World Sevens Football London Edition, topping Everton, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds will now go marching on to The W7F Final, where they will face Chelsea, who won by an 8-2 margin in the opening contest of Day 3.
Both Manchester United and Everton came into the match in full form, having each scored eight goals in their preceding contests. But the first few minutes suggested that supporters might be in for a defensive battle, with the back lines stepping up to limit their opponents’ chances.
Elisabeth Terland finally broke the deadlock in the seventh minute, running onto the ball off of a throw-in and launching it with pace into the bottom-right corner of the Everton net. The Red Devils’ Ella Toone almost added another just moments later, but Toffees keeper Emily Ramsey reacted quickly to block the ball away from danger.
Manchester United netminder Phallon Tullis-Joyce continued to build her case for the Golden Glove award, denying Hikaru Kitagawa from close range in the ninth minute.
Simi Awujo doubled the Red Devils’ advantage in the 11th minute, firing a rocket from the left edge of the penalty box that left Ramsey dead in her tracks.
Awujo’s goal seemed to unlock both sides’ attacking flair.
Everton finally got on the scoresheet in the 13th minute, with Katja Snoeijs drilling home a long cross from Clare Wheeler. In a matter of seconds, Manchester United answered on Melvine Malard’s fifth tally of the tournament. But the Toffees proved equal to the challenge, netting another on a strike from Kelly Gago to close the gap to 3-2.
The Red Devils maintained the one-goal margin heading into halftime.
Gago looked like she might have the equalizer in the 17th minute when the ball found her unmarked in the Manchester United eighteen. But her high shot bounced off the crossbar, leading to an audible groan from the Toffees faithful.
Everton turned up the heat in the final five minutes. Yuka Momoki had multiple opportunities to score in the 27th minute, with her second attempt finding the woodwork after the ball was deflected on the way to net.
Lea Schüller finally gave Manchester United some breathing room with a score in the 28th minute. The German striker’s tally showed the presence of mind that comes with her prior W7F experience, with Schüller having won the inaugural title with Bayern Munich in Estoril.
And the Red Devils piled on from there, with Awujo completing her brace in the 29th minute and extending the lead to 5-2.
The referees got the crowd going before the match, leading a W7F T-shirt toss that showed off their athleticism. Manchester United followed them with full confidence, stomping along to “We Will Rock You” and building a human pyramid with Jess Park on top. Everton, on the other hand, initially seemed like they were attending a funeral, carrying in a coffin-shaped suitcase – only for Hannah Blundell to emerge, sending the Toffees supporters into a frenzy.
