World Sevens Football has announced its first-ever London Edition, a three-day tournament set for 28-30 May 2026 at Brentford FC's Gtech Community Stadium. The event will feature eight of England’s best women’s clubs in a small-sided 7v7 format.

Aston Villa Women and Manchester United Women are the first clubs confirmed for the tournament. Six additional clubs will be announced in the coming weeks. This will be Manchester United Women’s second appearance in a World Sevens Football event.

The W7F format, 7v7 on a reduced natural grass pitch, 30-minute matches, and rolling substitutions, has drawn strong reviews since its debut in Estoril, Portugal in May 2025, where FC Bayern München won the inaugural title. A second edition in Fort Lauderdale, Florida saw San Diego Wave FC claim victory, with players and coaches from across the tournament praising the format's intensity and atmosphere.

Aston Villa Women's Managing Director Maggie Murphy called the format "a different kind of energy," adding that it will be "an engaging and fun experience - not only for the fans, but also for our players and staff." Manchester United Women's Director of Football Operations & Women's Football, Ameesh Manek, noted, “everyone is looking forward to returning to the World Sevens Football tournament. It is an excellent format that I know the team really enjoyed last year.”

The London Edition carries a high-stakes prize pool and will feature a festival-style atmosphere across all three days, with back-to-back fixtures, live entertainment, and family-friendly programming at the Gtech Community Stadium, a venue that also hosted UEFA Women's Euro 2022 matches and the 2026 FIFA Women's Champions Cup.

Jon Varney, Brentford FC Chief Executive said, “We are really pleased to be welcoming the London edition of World Sevens Football to Brentford. It is a unique tournament that promises fans fast-paced exciting action. We hope that by bringing events like this to the Gtech Community stadium, we can continue to inspire the next generation of players and fans, and support the growth of the women’s game.”

W7F co-founder Jen Mackesy framed the London Edition as a progression for the series. "World Sevens Football London Edition is the next step, showcasing one of the game's leading leagues and creating something that is tailored to their clubs, their players, and their fans while staying true to the energy and creativity that define W7F."
