WAVE EDGE CLUB AMÉRICA IN KEEPER SHOWDOWN TO CLAIM SECOND STRAIGHT WIN
BOTH GOALKEEPERS WERE ON DISPLAY AND DAZZLED THE CROWD WITH NUMEROUS STOPS DURING THE MATCH

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA, USA (DEC. 6, 2025) — San Diego Wave and Club América delivered a tense, tactical battle in the final match of the afternoon session, with the Wave ultimately securing back-to-back victories after a dramatic, sudden-death penalty shootout.
From the first whistle, it was a duel between two world-class goalkeepers. América struck the woodwork twice in the opening 15 minutes, with Jana Gutiérrez denied by the post before Kimberly Rodríguez’s header rattled the bar. At the other end, San Diego carved out chances of their own, but Adriana Leon and company struggled to beat the sensational Sandra Paños.
Both Paños and DiDi Haričić stole the spotlight as they traded spectacular saves throughout the second half. Paños, in particular, produced a breathtaking sequence of stops in the 26th, 27th, and 28th minutes, turning away everything the Wave threw her way and single-handedly preserving the 0–0 scoreline.
After 30 minutes and a scoreless overtime period, penalties were needed to break the deadlock.
Quincy McMahon calmly converted San Diego’s opening effort, and when Scarlett Camberos missed Club América’s reply, the Wave claimed their second win in as many days.
A thrilling keeper-centric showdown to close the afternoon slate, and W7F returns at 4:30 PM for four more electrifying matches.
