Bayern take home the lion’s share of the $5 million prize pool in Estoril; Japanese sensation Momoko Tanikawa named best player

ESTORIL, PORTUGAL, 24 MAY 2025 — After three days of electrifying action, festival atmosphere, and community engagement, Bayern München have been crowned the first ever champions of the World Sevens Football tournament at Estádio António Coimbra da Mota in Estoril, Portugal following a 2-1 victory over Manchester United. The path to glory was fiercely contested, with European giants Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Manchester United joining Bayern in the final four. After a dominant 5-0 semifinal win over PSG, Bayern advanced to face Manchester United, who edged out local rivals Manchester City 2-0 in a proper derby.
In a spectacular final, Bayern München showcased their trademark composure and tactical brilliance, overcoming Manchester United to lift the inaugural W7F trophy and claim the lion’s share of the $5 million prize pool.
