TIGRES CONQUER MEXICAN CLÁSICO TO REACH THE FINAL

GOLDEN GOAL FROM MAYOR IN EXTRA TIME PROVES TO BE THE DIFFERENCE IN SEMI FINAL 1

TIGRES CONQUER MEXICAN CLÁSICO TO REACH THE FINAL

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA, USA (DEC. 7, 2025) — The first semi-final of W7F in Florida delivered everything a true Mexican Clásico promised—intensity, heart, and a dramatic finish. Tigres and Club América arrived with identical records, identical goal tallies, and equally sky-high expectations. A final on the line.

The match exploded into life early, with América nearly striking in the opening minutes, only for Tigres keeper Cecilia Santiago to deny a sure goal. Tigres responded instantly. At 4’, the deadly connection struck again: María Sánchez sliced open América’s backline with a low cross, and Stephany Mayor tucked it away with ease. América fired back before the break. A clever free kick from captain Irene Guerrero, helped by a brilliant dummy from Jana Gutiérrez, slipped past Santiago to level the score at 1-1.

The second half became a chess match. Santiago came up big again at 22’, denying Luebbert, while América produced wave after wave of danger, including a golden chance wasted by Gutiérrez. After 30 minutes, still no breakthrough. The semifinal headed to 5v5 sudden-death overtime.

A 33’, the roof came off. María Sánchez, because of course, served a sublime assist, and Stephany Mayor buried her second of the day to clinch Tigres’ ticket to the W7F Final. A dramatic brace, delivered with ice in the veins. Tigres now await the winner of San Diego Wave FC vs. Flamengo. The Final is set to be fire.
