Manchester United Show Off Attacking Prowess in Third Triumph

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM (MAY 29, 2026) – Buoyed by a hat trick and an assist by Jess Park, Manchester United tied the World Sevens Football goals scored record set by Everton earlier in the day with an 8-2 rout of Tottenham Hotspur.

The Red Devils’ third victory in three matches secured their place in the London Edition championship bracket as winners of Group 2. They’ll face the Toffees in the second semi final on Saturday.

Manchester United walked out to a slow clap from their supporters, wishing for a victory that would lock up the top spot in Group 2. Meanwhile, the Spurs faithful knew that they needed a win from their side to advance.

It didn’t take long for the Red Devils to stake their claim to the World Sevens Football throne.

Melvine Malard continued her climb to the top of the Golden Boot leaderboard with a strike in the fifth minute, taking a short pass from Ellen Wangerheim and ripping the ball into the net. And just 30 seconds later, Anna Sandberg converted at the left post to double the Manchester United lead.

Phallon Tullis-Joyce made a deft save to preserve the Red Devils’ two-goal advantage in the eighth minute, positioning herself perfectly to collect Cathinka Tandberg’s header from very close range. And Lea Schüller almost widened the gap in the 10th minute but rocketed her powerful attempt off of the woodwork.

Jess Park, though, would not be denied, executing a give-and-go with Julia Zigiotti Olme and finishing from the edge of the six-yard box to pad Manchester United’s lead to 3-0 in the 13th minute.

Olivia Holdt seemed destined to score for Spurs in the final minute of the first half, dancing through multiple defenders in the penalty box. But her final touch pushed the ball just wide of the right post.

Park picked up her second in the 17th minute, finessing a shot from the right side of the eighteen. But Tottenham finally made a mark on the scoresheet moments later, when Tandberg put just enough on her attempt to get the ball past Tullis-Joyce.

Schüller wouldn’t let Spurs build any momentum, however, finding the net in the 19th minute to push the Red Devils ahead, 5-1. And a wide open Zigiotti Olme tapped in a cross from Elisabeth Terland on the break in the 22nd minute, extending Manchester United’s margin to five.

If that weren’t enough, Maya Le Tissier glanced in a header off of a curled cross from Park in the 23rd minute.

But Tottenham continued to fight valiantly despite being down 7-1. Holdt made up for her earlier missed opportunity with a tally in the 26th minute, twirling her finger in celebration.

Spurs sent all six field players into the offensive half in an attempt to boost their scoring. That left Park wide open to complete her hat trick on the break, sliding the ball into the net in the 28th minute.

The third score brought the English midfielder into a tie with Malard with four goals in three matches.

Tottenham earned a penalty kick in the 28th minute and brought netminder Sophie Jackson up to take it. But her attempt sailed over the crossbar, sending the keeper falling to the ground in despair.

Jackson would not be thwarted indefinitely, taking another attempt after the final whistle just to prove her mettle – and she found the back of the net with confidence.

Halftime featured a special appearance in the DJ booth by W7F Player Advisor Tobin Heath, who was celebrated on her special day with a rendition of “Happy Birthday” and a colorful cake.
