FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA, USA (DEC. 5, 2025) — World Sevens Football’s second edition kicked off in thrilling fashion as Flamengo rallied from two goals down to claim a vibrant 3–2 win over Kansas City Current at a packed Beyond Bancard Field.

Kansas City struck early, with Alex Pfeiffer finishing confidently inside two minutes before Ellie Wheeler doubled the lead after a sharp attacking move. Flamengo, however, grew into the match and were rewarded before the break as Ju Ferreira tapped in from close range and Gláucia levelled the score moments later following persistent Brazilian pressure.

The comeback was sealed shortly after halftime when Cristiane delivered an outrageous air backheel to set up Gláucia for her second of the afternoon. From there, Flamengo controlled the pace, with goalkeeper Vivi Holzel producing key saves to hold off a late Kansas City push.

A statement opening win for the Brazilians, full of flair, resilience, and attacking intent, as they set the tone for an exciting weekend in Fort Lauderdale.
