PSG defeat Benfica 2-1 to close out the first day of W7F action

PSG OVERCOME HOME-CROWD FAVORITES BENFICA
ESTORIL, PORTUGAL (21 May, 2025) — Paris Saint-Germain put in a polished performance to claim a 2–1 win over Benfica, wrapping up an exciting first day at the World Sevens Football tournament. The Benfica fans erupted when Lara Martins opened the scoring with a stunning strike from distance, but PSG responded immediately when Baby Benera (#24) finished off a flowing move to bring the match level. Benfica’s keeper kept the score even heading into the break with a spectacular reflex save that had the fans on their feet. In the second half, PSG’s patience paid off as Froya Dorsin (#16) capitalized on a defensive lapse to slot home the winner. Despite the energy from the stands, the French side stayed composed and completed a comeback to kickstart their tournament campaign.
