Match 3 Recap — Bayern München top Ajax
Bayern München clinches a 4-2 victory in the third match of W7F’s opening day

BAYERN MÜNCHEN DEFEATS AJAX IN SIX-GOAL SHOWCASE
ESTORIL, PORTUGAL (21 May, 2025) — The goal tallies are starting to pick up at Estoril. Bayern München laid down an early marker at the World Sevens Football tournament with a confident 4–2 win over Ajax in a match full of flair and attacking intent. Ajax got off to a bright start thanks to a slick piece of footwork and tidy finish from Lotte Keukelaar (#23), but Bayern responded with authority. An unfortunate own goal from Ajax captain Regina Van Eijk (#1) brought the German side level, and from there, Bayern took over. Glodis Viggosdottir pounced inside the box to put them ahead, before Tuva Hansen and Linda Dallmann added to the tally. Hansen’s strike was especially classy after a pinpoint assist from Momoko Tanikawa. After her goal, Hansen pulled off her jersey and ran to her teammates on the sidelines, an expression of sheer joy that promptly earned her a yellow card. She responded by blowing a cheeky, friendly kiss to the ref. W7F and referees rescinded the card after the match, stating that the new series celebrates all forms of joy. Rising American star Lily Yohannes (#20) managed to pull one back late on for Ajax after capitalizing on a defensive mix-up, but it was little more than consolation. Bayern looked sharp, composed and fully in control — a strong opening statement from the Bavarians.
