MAN. UNITED DENIES ROMA TO WIN FIRST W7F MATCH
ESTORIL, PORTUGAL (21 May, 2025) — Manchester United held their nerve in a fiercely contested clash to claim a 3–2 win over AS Roma in a very entertaining match for everyone watching at the António Coimbra da Mota, and at home. After a tense opening spell, United struck twice in quick succession — Celine Bizet tapped in following a defensive scramble, and captain Ella Toone doubled the lead a minute later with a composed finish. Roma answered immediately through their own skipper, Manuela Giugliano, who hammered in a long-range effort off the crossbar before curling in a stunning second to level the score. The match remained wide open, with both goalkeepers, particularly United’s Phallon Tullis-Joyce, making crucial saves. Ultimately, it was Grace Clinton who made the difference, lofting a clever chip shot over the Roma keeper to seal the win for United in a rollercoaster contest.
