Chelsea Wins Third Consecutive Match to Win Group 1
The Blues downed London City, 5-2, and advanced to Saturday’s semi finals.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM (MAY 29, 2026) – Closing out round-robin play in Group 1, Chelsea showed no signs of slowing down en route to Saturday’s World Sevens Football semi finals, defeating London City Lionesses, 5-2.
Aggie Beever-Jones added a goal and an assist in what continues to be a torrid tournament for the attacker – bringing her to seven cumulative goal contributions in three matches.
London City showed Chelsea they weren’t going to back down, with Nikita Parris executing a flawless give-and-go with Lucía Corrales before finding the back of the Blues net for a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute.
But Lola Brown equalized for Chelsea in the eighth minute, receiving a pass in the eighteen-yard box and patiently picking out her target. And Sandy Baltimore pushed the Blues ahead 2-1 four minutes later with a clinical finish from the left side.
London City Lionesses keeper Elene Lete made a few timely saves to keep her team afloat. However, Keira Walsh put just enough on a shot from the edge of the six-yard box to give Chelsea a 3-1 advantage heading into halftime.
The battle was not over, though, with London City getting back on the scoresheet in the 17th minute on a no-doubt header from Wassa Sangaré at the left post. And Rofiat Imuran looked like she might have the equalizer in the 25th minute, but her low, driven shot from the right side of the penalty box went just wide of the near post.
Just moments later, the Blues’ Aggie Beever-Jones widened the margin back to two, potting a back-heeled pass from Sjoeke Nüske. The English striker added the finishing touch to Chelsea’s triumph, setting up Johanna Rytting Kaneryd for a cherry-topping fifth goal in the final minute.
Chelsea advances to the first semi final on Saturday and will face the Group 2 runner-up.
