Chelsea Dazzle and Dominate in First Semi Final
The Blues started slow but eventually unleashed their attack in an 8-2 triumph over Aston Villa.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM (MAY 30, 2026) – Aggie Beever-Jones and Chelsea showed no signs of slowing down in the first semi final of World Sevens Football London Edition, romping to an 8-2 victory over Aston Villa in front of a raucous crowd.
The English striker registered a pair of scores and an assist to bring her total goal contributions for the tournament to 10.
Beever-Jones drew first blood in the 14th minute, breaking what seemed to have been a stalemate with a driven low strike from the top of the penalty box that left Villa keeper Sabrina D’Angelo with no chance to stop it.
That would be the only goal by either side in the first half. But things would get a lot more fast and furious from then on.
Beever-Jones notched her second goal of the contest in the 17th minute, juking a defender in the penalty box before slipping the ball inside the left post. Her fifth score of the tournament gave Chelsea a 2-0 lead.
Kirsty Hanson had a chance to get Villa on the board in the 19th minute. But after a strong save by Livia Peng, Chelsea launched a counter-attack in the other direction, with Mayra Ramírez streaking away for the Blues’ third goal of the match.
Moments later, Chelsea added another on the break, with Sjoeke Nüsken setting up Wieke Kaptein for a tap-in finish at the left post and a 4-0 advantage.
Hanson would get one back for the Villans in the 20th minute, beating the Blues defense and getting inside the eighteen-yard box before slotting the ball into the bottom-left corner to cut Chelsea’s lead to 4-1.
Ramírez picked up a brace on a defensive miscue by Aston Villa in the 24th minute, cleaning up the mess and widening the Blues’ margin to four goals.
But it was Chelsea’s turn for a fumble in the 26th minute. The Villans’ Rachel Daly took advantage of a missed pass and found the target from very long range, aiming an arcing shot from near the center circle to get Aston Villa back within three goals at 5-2.
Erin Cuthbert would not let the Villans sustain their momentum, however, executing a give-and-go with Beever-Jones for the Blues’ sixth score. And Veerle Buurman kept the onslaught going with tallies in the 27th and 28th minutes, giving Chelsea a W7F record-tying eight goals in the match.
With the victory, the Blues advance to The W7F Final, where they will face the winner of the second semi final matchup between Manchester United and Everton.
Before the match began, the referees led the crowd in a rousing rendition of “Sweet Caroline.” That was the perfect prelude to Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor being carried out by her players to “I Believe I Can Fly.”
