LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM (MAY 28, 2026) – Aggie Beever-Jones continued to make her case for the Golden Ball at World Sevens Football London Edition, racking up three assists as Chelsea topped Leicester City, 3-1.

With the result, the Blues finished Day 1 of the tournament with two wins in two matches, putting Chelsea in pole position to lock up a spot in Saturday’s semi finals.

The referees continued to level up their walkouts in the final match of the day, cartwheeling onto the pitch. Meanwhile, the Blues featured a coffee pour-over station as part of their pregame ritual, and the Foxes added golf swings and a cartwheel of their own to their introductions.

That caffeine boost paid off immediately for Chelsea, as Erin Cuthbert delivered a score in the first 40 seconds of the match. She initially carried the ball into the penalty box before executing a nifty give-and-go with Aggie Beever-Jones that left Cuthbert wide open for a volley at the left post.

But the Foxes fought right back with a spectacular finish by Noémie Mouchon to level the score at 1-1 in the third minute. The French attacker chipped the ball from just outside the eighteen-yard box perfectly between the outstretched fingertips of Blues netminder Rebecca Spencer and the bottom of the crossbar.

Leicester’s Simone Sherwood blocked a ball on the goal line in the sixth minute, preventing what seemed destined to be a classic finish from inside the penalty box for Sandy Baltimore. But Wieke Kaptein gave the Blues a 2-1 lead in the 10th minute. A series of passes culminated with Beever-Jones finding the Dutch midfielder unmarked at the top of the eighteen, and Kaptein hardly hesitated before burying the ball in the left side of the net.

Sarah Mayling almost brought the Foxes back level in the 12th minute after a defensive lapse gave Leicester City the ball in a promising position. But her soaring shot found the woodwork.

The supporters kept the action going during halftime, with a rousing rendition of “YMCA” featuring choreography as coordinated as the players on the pitch.

Both sides dug in to open the second half, with the back lines falling in to protect their keepers. But Baltimore broke what seemed to be an emerging stalemate in the 22nd minute, one-timing a pass from Beever-Jones with the outside of her right foot and into the bottom-right corner of the Leicester net.

The French footballer’s tally pushed Chelsea’s lead to 3-1, and the Blues defense held strong to close out the match.
